Best Month to Visit Side – Month by Month Guide

For a beach holiday in Side, consider late May to October; for walking and ancient sites without peak summer heat, look at spring or autumn. July and August suit travellers who want a lively resort and can manage the heat. Winter offers a quieter stay, but not the same hotel facilities or excursion choice.

The figures below are long-term average daily highs for Antalya, rounded to whole degrees, from MGM’s 1930–2025 observations. They provide regional context, not exact Side measurements or a forecast. Nights are cooler, and heatwaves, rain and wind can change your plans.

MGM climate statistics for Antalya (Turkish)

January

January is for beach walks, the ancient town and sunset near the Temple of Apollo rather than a swimming holiday. Expect rain as well as clear spells. Some resorts close or reduce services; confirm which restaurants, indoor pools and other facilities will operate before booking a longer stay.

February

February remains a winter month, although mild days and early blossom can make the countryside appealing. Manavgat Waterfall, photography, coastal cycling and short walks are alternatives to the beach. A spa hotel or a quiet base for remote work may suit you; check the facilities you need rather than assuming everything is open.

March

March brings greener scenery and more comfortable conditions for visiting ancient cities and walking in the Taurus foothills. The sea is still cool. Jeep safaris and rafting may be available, but weather, river conditions and the operator’s seasonal timetable matter more than a fixed start date.

April

April is a good option for combining outdoor sightseeing with time by the sea. Some visitors swim, but the water can still feel cold. Rain and cool evenings remain possible, so do not count on uninterrupted beach weather or every boat excursion operating.

May

May brings warmer days and a busier resort. Swimming often becomes more appealing toward the end of the month, though comfort varies. Boat trips, diving, rafting, paragliding and safaris offer alternatives to sunbathing; each activity has its own weather and participation requirements.

June

June offers warm seas, water sports, resort holidays and evenings around the harbour. It is often less crowded than the school-holiday peak, but can already be very hot. Families should plan shade and rest breaks rather than treating June as a guarantee of mild weather.

July

July is one of the hottest and busiest months. Temperatures can exceed 35°C, making long midday visits to exposed ruins uncomfortable. Plan sightseeing early or late, and leave the hottest hours for a shaded break. Pools, the beach, water parks and evening entertainment dominate many holiday plans.

August

August is also peak season, with very warm seas, busy beaches and lively nightlife. Popular accommodation and activities may fill up, so compare and book ahead if your dates are fixed. Prices depend on the hotel and booking conditions; no month guarantees the highest or lowest rate.

September

September is a strong choice for combining swimming and sightseeing. The sea retains summer warmth, while the most intense heat usually begins to ease. Visitor numbers may decline after school holidays, but sunny weeks and popular hotels can still be busy.

October

October can suit a beach-and-culture holiday: the sea often remains inviting while walking becomes easier. Rain becomes more likely and evenings cool down. Check the season end dates for boat trips, beach services and hotel facilities, especially for a late-October stay.

November

November shifts toward a quieter, wetter season. Some visitors still swim in fine weather early in the month, but a holiday should not depend on it. Beach walks, photography and relaxed sightseeing are better priorities, with an indoor option for rainy days.

December

December is best approached as a mild-weather winter break, not a summer holiday. Clear days are pleasant for the coast and historic sights, but rain and cool evenings are part of the season. A lower room rate is only good value if the hotel services you want are open.

Choosing dates for your holiday

For families, June or September can balance swimming with a less intense atmosphere, subject to school dates and the actual forecast. For sightseeing, March–April and October are useful starting points. November–March may offer lower accommodation prices, but holiday periods and reduced hotel services can change the value. In April and early May, consider a confirmed heated pool if swimming is essential.

Before choosing a date, check the operating calendar and conditions for the activities you want. Check current Side tours and activities.

For airport travel, check your hotel’s exact location, vehicle capacity and final quote; resorts marketed as “Side” do not all belong to the same transfer area. Antalya Airport–Side private transfer options.

Practical precautions

  • Check traffic before crossing, even on a green signal; use well-lit routes after dark.
  • Choose food sellers with good hygiene. If you are unsure about local drinking water, use sealed bottled water.
  • Book with an identifiable, licensed travel agency and keep the written itinerary and receipt; the sales location alone does not establish whether a seller is authorised.
  • Decline unsolicited help at cash machines, check card amounts and receipts, and exchange money at banks or authorised offices.
  • Check banknotes and change. As of October 2026, the largest Turkish lira banknote is 200 TL. Do not accept notes marked “ÖRNEKTİR” or “SPECIMEN” as payment.
