Can You Travel from Side and Nearby Holiday Resorts to Alanya by Dolmuş?
Many visitors staying in Gündoğdu, Çolaklı, Evrenseki, Kumköy, Side, Sorgun, or Titreyengöl want to spend a day in Alanya. The two resort areas are connected by the D400 coastal road, but there is one important detail: there is no regular direct dolmuş service from these Side holiday districts to central Alanya.
You can still reach Alanya independently, but you must either take a taxi, travel with two separate dolmuş services through Manavgat, or join an organised sightseeing tour.
Option 1: Travel to Alanya by Yellow Taxi
The easiest private option is a yellow taxi. A one-way journey from Side or the nearby resort areas to Alanya generally costs around €60 per vehicle. The final fare may vary according to your exact hotel location, traffic conditions, waiting time, and whether the driver offers a fixed price. Depending on the departure point and summer traffic, the journey usually takes approximately 60 to 90 minutes.
Before starting the trip, ask the driver to confirm the total price. You should also agree whether the quoted amount is for one direction only or includes the return journey. For the return, arrange a pickup time in advance or use an official taxi rank in Alanya.
Option 2: Travel via Manavgat by Dolmuş
The cheapest independent method is to travel through Manavgat. This journey has two stages because the local resort dolmuş services do not continue directly to Alanya.
First, find a dolmuş displaying “Manavgat” on the front windscreen. These minibuses operate from Gündoğdu, Çolaklı, Evrenseki, Kumköy, Side, Sorgun, and Titreyengöl. Ask your hotel reception for the nearest stop, or wait at a recognised roadside dolmuş point in the direction of Manavgat.
The approximate fare from the holiday resorts to Manavgat is about €2 per person, although the amount can differ slightly according to distance. Payment is normally made directly to the driver. Carrying small banknotes is recommended.
Get off at Manavgat’s main dolmuş station. From there, look for the Manavgat–Alanya service, commonly operated on the Batı Birlik route. Tell the driver or station staff that you want to go to Alanya Otogar.
The Manavgat–Alanya fare in 2026 is approximately 230–250 Turkish lira per person, equal to roughly €5–€6 depending on the exchange rate. Prices can change during the season, so treat this as a guide rather than a guaranteed tariff.
The ride from Manavgat to Alanya normally takes around 60 to 75 minutes. During busy summer periods, especially in July and August, traffic on the D400 road can increase the journey time considerably. Including the first dolmuş, the transfer, and waiting time, allow approximately two to three hours from your hotel to central Alanya.
How Frequently Do the Dolmuş Services Operate?
Local dolmuş services between the Side resort districts and Manavgat are frequent during the main tourism season. On busy routes such as Side, Kumköy, and Manavgat, vehicles commonly run every 5 to 10 minutes from May to October. Services from Gündoğdu, Çolaklı, Sorgun, and Titreyengöl may operate approximately every 10 to 20 minutes, depending on demand and the time of day.
Most main local routes begin at around 06:00 in the morning and continue until approximately 23:00 or midnight in summer. In winter, minibuses usually run every 15 to 30 minutes, and evening services may finish earlier.
The Manavgat–Alanya Batı Birlik service generally operates between approximately 06:30 and 21:00, with departures commonly every 15 to 20 minutes during the daytime. Timetables are not always completely fixed, and seasonal changes, traffic, roadworks, or operational decisions can affect departure times. Check the return service before leaving Manavgat or Alanya.
Arriving at Alanya Bus Station
The main Alanya bus station is in Kızlar Pınarı, on the western side of the city, close to Cleopatra Beach. It is not directly beside Alanya harbour, but it is within the wider central area and provides a convenient starting point for exploring.
From the station, you can walk towards Cleopatra Beach, Damlataş Cave, the cable car, and the central shopping streets. Continuing east along Damlataş Avenue takes you towards the city centre, harbour, Red Tower, and the lower entrance area of Alanya Castle. Comfortable shoes are useful because the distance from the station to the harbour area is several kilometres.
Local city buses and taxis are also available if you do not want to walk. Ask the driver for “Damlataş,” “iskele,” or “Alanya merkez,” depending on where you want to begin your visit.
For the return journey, go back to Alanya Otogar and take the Manavgat service. After arriving in Manavgat, change to the correct dolmuş for your hotel district. Make sure the destination name on the windscreen matches Gündoğdu, Çolaklı, Evrenseki, Kumköy, Side, Sorgun, or Titreyengöl.
Option 3: Join a Guided Alanya City Tour
