Side Holiday Resorts Guide
A hotel advertised as “Side” may be near the ancient peninsula or in a resort area farther along the coast. Check its exact address before booking: it determines your beach, evening walks, journey to the old town and transfer arrangements.
Side old town and the wider holiday region
Side belongs to Manavgat district in Antalya province. The ancient harbour town occupies a small peninsula southwest of Manavgat centre. The Temple of Apollo, Roman theatre, agora and colonnaded streets sit alongside cafés, restaurants and smaller hotels. The coastal holiday region marketed as Side extends well beyond this historic centre.
Resort areas, west to east
The areas below are ordered geographically. Hotel zones spread inland and along the shore, so a single distance for an entire resort can be misleading. Check the route from your actual hotel to the entrance of the ancient peninsula.
Gündoğdu
The western end of this resort group has large all-inclusive hotels and broad beach areas. It suits a hotel-and-beach holiday, with more travel involved when you want an evening in old Side. Check beach access, pools and spa facilities for the property itself.
Çolaklı
West of Side, Çolaklı offers established resort hotels and sandy beach sections. Families often consider it for space and hotel facilities. Confirm the actual walk to the beach and children’s services rather than assuming every hotel is seafront.
Evrenseki
Between Çolaklı and Kumköy, Evrenseki combines substantial resort hotels with beach promenades and nearby shops. It can suit guests who want hotel facilities and occasional outings, but room location and neighbouring entertainment affect how quiet it feels.
Kumköy
Closer to Side’s old town, Kumköy has a lively mix of hotels, restaurants and shops. It offers more options for going out beyond the hotel. Whether walking to the peninsula is realistic depends on the exact hotel, the route and the heat.
Side centre
Choose the old town or its immediate surroundings for harbour walks, historic atmosphere and restaurants. Boutique hotels and smaller properties are common here, though larger hotels stand outside the peninsula. Vehicle access and final drop-off points may be restricted.
Sorgun
East of Side, Sorgun is known for pine-covered surroundings and resort hotels. It may suit guests who prefer greener grounds while remaining relatively close to the ancient town. Check the beach surface and access at the chosen hotel.
Titreyengöl
Farther east, near the lake and Manavgat River area, Titreyengöl offers resort accommodation and waterside walks. Staying “near Side” here does not mean staying within the old town; plan local transport for evening visits.
Kızılağaç
This eastern resort area focuses on large hotel complexes and beach stays. It can work well if you expect to spend much of the holiday at your hotel. Check transfer coverage carefully: Kızılağaç may be priced separately from the central Side hotel zone.
Kızılot
Farther east again, Kızılot offers a more spread-out resort setting. Choose it for the particular hotel and coastal surroundings rather than easy daily walks into Side. Transfers and excursions can involve longer journeys or a separate pickup arrangement.
Why Manavgat matters
Manavgat is the district’s everyday commercial and transport centre, with supermarkets, banks, pharmacies and local markets. It is also the starting area for river trips and visits to Manavgat Waterfall. The Monday market offers a different shopping experience from Side’s souvenir streets; compare prices rather than assuming everything will be cheaper.
Airport, beaches and getting around
- Antalya Airport (AYT) is the usual arrival airport. The current private Side transfer route covers Gündoğdu through Titreyengöl, roughly 50–75 km depending on the hotel, with an estimated 50–80-minute drive in suitable traffic conditions. Kızılağaç and Kızılot are outside that route’s Side coverage. Shared transfers and congestion can take longer.
- Walk around the historic centre; use a dolmuş, taxi or arranged transfer for other resort areas. Confirm the correct line, return stop and taxi charging basis. A hire car is optional, not essential for a hotel-and-old-town holiday.
- Side has sandy beach sections, particularly to the west, but the shore, depth and waves vary by location and day. Shallow-looking water does not make a beach safe for non-swimmers or unsupervised children. Check flags, access and conditions at your own beach.

Beyond the beach
Boat trips, canyon outings, cultural visits and family activities offer different ways to explore the region. Horse riding is another option; confirm the session time and route rather than assuming every ride is a sunset beach ride.
Side’s theatre is an important monument, but the official museum page currently announces a restoration closure. Check access before planning to go inside; the surrounding old town is a separate visit. Official Side archaeological-site information.
