Everything you need to know at a glance
Most visitors know Side for its beaches, hotels and Mediterranean coastline. But only a short distance inland, the scenery changes completely. Pine forests replace the sea view, dusty mountain roads wind through the hills, and small villages appear between the valleys of the Taurus Mountains.
The Side Jeep Safari Tour is designed for travelers who want to experience this side of the region — not from a tour bus, but from open-top 4x4 vehicles driving through mountain tracks and rural landscapes.
It is one of the most popular outdoor activities around Side because it combines nature, adventure, village life and panoramic scenery in a single full-day experience.
The day begins with hotel pickup before the Jeeps head away from the coastline and toward the Taurus Mountains.
As the roads climb higher, the atmosphere changes quickly. Modern resort areas disappear behind the forests, while mountain villages, dirt tracks and wide valley views begin to dominate the landscape.
Unlike standard sightseeing tours, the Jeep Safari focuses less on historical monuments and more on the experience of the journey itself.
The open-top Jeeps allow guests to fully experience the mountain air, forest scenery and changing landscapes throughout the day.
A large part of the tour takes place on unpaved mountain roads and forest tracks.
Depending on the route and weather conditions, the Jeeps may pass through:
— dusty off-road trails
— pine forests
— rocky mountain roads
— small river crossings
— remote village areas
The roads are intentionally adventurous and sometimes bumpy, which is part of what makes the safari enjoyable for many guests.
At the same time, the vehicles are driven by experienced local drivers, so participants can simply relax and enjoy the ride.
One of the highlights of the safari is the opportunity to see the countryside around Side beyond the tourist areas.
Throughout the day, the route includes stops at panoramic viewpoints overlooking valleys, forests and mountain landscapes. In smaller villages, guests can observe a slower rural lifestyle that feels very different from the busy coastal resorts.
These moments often become some of the most memorable parts of the tour because they show a more natural and traditional side of the region.
Around midday, the safari usually stops near a mountain lake or riverside area surrounded by nature.
Here, guests have time to relax, swim or simply enjoy the quieter atmosphere away from the dusty trails.
Lunch is also served during this stop, giving everyone a chance to rest before continuing the safari route through the mountains.
For many visitors, this combination of off-road adventure and peaceful nature is what makes the Jeep Safari experience feel balanced rather than exhausting.
Although the safari includes nature and scenic landscapes, it is also known for its lively group atmosphere.
The guides and drivers often keep the mood energetic throughout the day, and many tours include playful moments between the Jeeps, especially during warmer months.
Depending on the group and conditions, optional water fights between vehicles may also take place — something especially popular with families and younger travelers.
At the same time, guests who prefer a quieter experience can simply enjoy the scenery and the mountain route at their own pace.
The Side Jeep Safari is popular with:
— families with children
— couples
— groups of friends
— solo travelers
— guests looking for something more active than a beach day
No driving experience is needed because all vehicles are operated by professional drivers.
The tour is more about enjoying the landscapes, atmosphere and off-road experience than physical activity.
Many visitors are surprised by how different the Taurus Mountains feel compared to the coastline around Side.
Within a relatively short distance, the scenery changes from hotels and beaches to forests, mountain roads and quiet villages.
For travelers wanting to see more than the typical holiday areas, the Jeep Safari offers one of the easiest ways to explore the inland landscapes of the region.
